Plantar fasciitis (foot injury) is most commonly caused by a repetitive strain injury to the ligament of the sole of the foot. An inflammation of a thick band of tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes occurs, symptoms include stabbing pain near the heel. Such an injury can result from excessive running, walking, jumping or inadequate footwear.
